Using the designer go in to the views of a "good" design ie your own mail and copy the inbox view ($Inbox) if memory serves. Then delete the existing view in the problem mail file and paste the one you copied. See if that fixes it. (Best to make a copy and play with that rather than the production) This seems to work when file replace design doesn't I have been having an equally unexplicable problem with corruption of the ($Calendar) and this is the only thing that fixes it.
